In 1906 she became pastor of a church in Tampico, Illinois. In August of that year, her husband Rev. Samuel V. Williams was deposed from his pastorate o the Christian church in LaPorte, Indiana after he confessed to misdeeds. His manner and the nature of his confessions were suspect. He was judged insane and sent to the state asylum in Watertown, Illinois. He later became a preacher in Kankakee, Illinois, where he committed suicide on 25 Apr 1909.
