Daniel Francis Murray
July 24, 1948 - December 14, 2023

Daniel Francis Murray, age 75, of Peotone passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023, in Hopedale, IL surrounded by his loving family.

Dan served his country with the U.S. Army reserves. He was a graduate of Lincoln-Way Central High School and Bradley University. Dan went on to law school at Chicago-Kent College of Law and received his Juris Doctorate degree. A former federal prosecutor and private practice attorney, Dan practiced law for over 45 years. He also had a passion for teaching and often substitute taught.

Dan was a longtime active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manhattan and taught religious education for several years. He was noted for his famous lecture on the Four Last Things. He often wrote songs that connected with the students he taught.

Dan was an avid reader. He also enjoyed sailing, fly fishing and vacationing in Naples Fl., but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Dan was a kind and generous man who helped countless people in need and would give the shirt off his back if it was needed. Dan will be remembered for his joyful heart, bold personality, and quick wit. He was authentic and unapologetically himself. But above all, his heart was on fire for the love of the Lord and it exuded from him in all that he did.

Preceded in death by his parents Gerard and Merna (nee Winstrom) Murray, his first wife Victoria (nee Kikutis) Murray, his sister Sue Cooper, his niece Michelle Rossi and his nephew Johnny Rossi.

Interment Mount St. Patrick Cemetery, Wilton Center.
