Cedar City was where her family called home, and where she attended schools and worked as a nurse's aide. She also worked a short time in Salt Lake City before moving to Southern California during World War II. She became one of the first women employed at Firestone Tire and Rubber where she worked to support the WWII war effort and was proud to be one of the "Rosie the Riveters".
It was there that she met her husband, Willard H. Cary. They were married on June 30, 1945, later sealed in the Los Angeles LDS temple. They made their home in Compton, California where their three children were born. After 20 short years of marriage, Willard passed away making Beth a young widow with three children to continue raising. She was strengthened by the loving support of both the Cary and Jolley families. Beth worked hard to provide a wonderful life for her grateful children. She worked and lived in Orange County for over 30 years. Beth considered herself "Jolley by name, jolly by nature" and made friends easily. Her greatest joy was in staying connected to both family and friends, no matter the distance.
She cherished her associations with many friends from clubs, organizations, and church associations for over 60 years. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and humbly and faithfully served. For the last three years she enjoyed her associations at South Towne Ranch in Sandy, Utah. Beth will be remembered as a playful, strong, stalwart, faithful, cherished wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Beth's greatest joy was her family.
She is survived by her children: Bonnie (Gordon) Stofer of Pratt, Kansas, Joanne (Steve) Thomas of Sandy, Utah, and Brad (Mishelle) Cary of Rancho Santa Margarita, California; eight grandchildren: Eric (Misty) Stofer, Chris (Kim) Stofer, Jeff (Valarie) Thomas, Chad (Hillary) Thomas, Katie Thomas, Marcy Thomas, Kristie (Mark) Fingerhut, and Bryan Cary; four great-grandchildren, Gage, Adisyn, Kyson and Alexa; two sisters: Orissa (Garn) Hirschi and Edith Hunter and many loving sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willard H. Cary, brothers Milt Jolley, Cluff Jolley, and sisters Hertha Jolley and Doris Jolley Clausen. The family would like to express appreciation to all the medical staff and caregivers who have attended to Beth's needs during recent months. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 1, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at the Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 N. 300 West, Cedar City, Utah. Interment will be at the Cedar City Cemetery.
