James Alfred Blakely, 64, of Blountsville died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham.

Mr. Blakely was born in Etowah County to Hosie and Madgalene Farmer Blakely.

He was a general laborer before his retirement.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Tawana and Craig Hyatt of Spokane, Wash.; granddaughter: Haley Hyatt of Spokane, Wash.; brother and sister-in-law: Hoyt and Linda Blakely of Trafford; two sisters: Mary Blakely of Blountsville and Betty Blakely of Trafford; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; special niece: Shunya Parker; and special friends: Joe Gray and DeeDee Owens.

He was preceded in death by a son: Porter Blakely.

The funeral service was at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2007, at Blountsville Funeral Home, with Paul Kilgo officiating and Jewel Vaughn providing the music. Burial was in Moody's Chapel Cemetery, with Blountsville Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to help with the funeral expenses.

Pallbearers were Dion Parker, Rodney Blakely, Tracy Blakely, Dallas Blakely and Joe Gray.
