Lois Jean Vaughn, 90, of Delavan, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Carle Health Pekin Hospital.

She was born October 20, 1933 on a farm in Emden to William F. and Lena J. Hilgendorf Arnold. She married Larl Dean Vaughn of Mason City on June 27, 1954 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage, and he passed away October 16, 2009.

Surviving are two sons, Kevin Dean Vaughn and Donald William (Julie) Vaughn; four grandchildren, Gina (B.J.) Anderson, Tiffany (Keith) Brown, Alexander "Alex" Vaughn and Austin Vaughn; four great grandchildren, Crawford Jean Brown, Madison Knupple, Anna and Coltin Anderson; one sister-in-law, Judy Arnold; nieces, nephews , and cousins; her best friends, Teddi Weber and Cathy Evans; and her two dogs, Tina and Timmy.

She was preceded by three brothers and their spouses, Leslie (Lela) Arnold, Richard (Margaret) Arnold, Donald (Elisabeth) Arnold, and her brother, Glenn Arnold; one sister and her husband, Lucille (Lewis) Mammen; and her dog, Ginger.

Lois attended Emden and San Jose schools. She was a homemaker and worked in the banking business for 20 years. She worked at Commercial Bank in Peoria, Tazewell County National Bank and Tri County Bank, both in San Jose.

She was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden, where she was baptized and confirmed.

Lois loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed baking and reading. Everyone who met Lois said she was the sweetest lady.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden. Pastor Keith Ray will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday and one hour before the service, both at the church. Burial will be in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan. Davis-Oswald Funeral Home in Delavan is handling the arrangements.
