Passed away on December 1st, 2023 at his home in Los Angeles, CA.
Will was born in Los Angeles on May 1st, 1947 to William and Onnalee Doheny. He graduated from Stanford University in 1969 with a degree in History before serving his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
After leaving the Navy, Will married his wife, Libby, in 1972. During this time he received a law degree and passed the California State Bar before deciding to pursue a career in finance at Scudder, Stevens & Clark. Will eventually co-founded Summit Management in 1982 where their success led to an acquisition by US Trust in 1987. Eventually he left to start his own successful company, Doheny Asset Management, in 1993.
Will was known for his tremendous spirit and generosity. He was involved in multiple charities where he donated both his time and money. He served on the Board of Directors of Children's Hospital for over twenty years, as well as that of the Doheny Eye Institute and the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation. Mayor Riordan appointed him to serve as President of the Los Angeles City Employees' Retirement System.
Will was also an active member of the Republican Party. He enjoyed spending time playing bridge at The Los Angeles Country Club and hanging out with his friends and family at the Bel Air Bay Club.
Will is survived by his loving wife of over fifty years, Libby, his three children, Trey, Leigh and Megan, and his three grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother, Chris Cord, and survived by his sister, Wendy McWethy.
