Carla Louise "Betsy" Knight, 92, of Metcalf, Illinois, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, at her home. She was a homemaker and had also worked at the former Zenith Company of Paris, Illinois.

She was born February 22, 1931, in Paris, the daughter of the late Joe and Naomi (Bartlett) Pugh. She married Perle Allen Knight on June 12, 1949, at Metcalf Christian Church. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2019.

Survivors include three children, Gary (Kima) Knight of Danville, Illinois, Jacqueline (Jim) Holloway of Paris, and Judy (Brad) Young of Terre Haute, Indiana; eight sisters, Loraine Cross of Kokomo, Indiana, Nancy Kinkead and Mary Jo Farley both of Crawfordsville, Indiana, Janet (Ron) Lehr of New Market, Indiana, Margaret (David) Peebles of Belton, Texas, Sue Thomas of Crawfordsville, Donna Poole of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Candy (Greg) Gray of Rockville, Indiana; eight grandchildren who brought her great joy, Kacy (Mark) Waldhoff of Champaign, Illinois, Kelly Knight and Karlee (Blake) Freeman both of Bloomington, Illinois, Leslie (Andy) Ring of Brownsburg, Indiana, Wade (Trisha) Hendry and Blake (Jenni) Young both of Homer, Illinois, Brock (Sarah) Young of Rossville, Indiana, and Blair (T.J.) Dosch of Mattoon, Illinois; nineteen great-grandchildren of whom she was very proud; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Bartlett, and three sisters, Beverly MacNorton, Madge Gill, and Nola Jane Parker.

Mrs. Knight was proud of her roles as a farm wife and mother, having lived on farms south of Metcalf her entire life. She was a graduate of Metcalf High School. She was an active, devoted member of Metcalf Christian Church for over seventy years where she had taught Sunday School. She also enjoyed being a member of TOPS #2318 of Paris for many years. After retirement, Betsy and Perle enjoyed wintering in Lake Wales, Florida, for forty years. Betsy enjoyed canning, gardening, playing euchre, and watching soap operas. She was a talented cook - especially when it came to her coveted noodles - and she loved hosting family get-togethers. Betsy's family will remember her as the ideal of a loving Christian wife, mother, and grandmother.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to Metcalf Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
