Catherine graduated from Gadsden High School in 1946. Catherine devoted her life to her husband and family. She worked as a dedicated bookkeeper. She was a kind, caring beloved person who kept her mind sharp and kept everyone smiling. She loved gardening, cooking for her family, and watching Alabama football. After marrying and moving to Trussville, she and George joined and became lifelong devoted servants and members of First Baptist Trussville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, George Truitt Hathaway; her parents, James Carl Stanford and Martha Lee Townley, sister Elizabeth Clark and brother James Townlee Stanford.
Catherine is survived by her children and their spouses, sister, grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Her family received visitors at First Baptist Trussville on Wednesday, December 6th. Funeral services followed at First Baptist Church Trussville. The burial was at Crestwood Memorial in Gadsden, Alabama.
