On September 5, 1948, Kathleen was united in marriage to Ronald James Rasmussen at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. They became the parents of five children. Kathleen was a stay-at-home mother when her children were young. She sewed clothes for her children and did alterations for others. Later, she worked at a dress shop and a fabric shop in Audubon, and eventually at a dress shop in Des Moines.
Kathleen enjoyed playing golf and cards, dancing and working in her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son in 1954, an infant brother in 1935, her sister Ardis in 1947, her sister-in-law Dona Medberry, her brother-in-law Robert Medberry, her son-in-law Edward Wiederstein, and infant grandchildren: Miranda Rasmussen, and Emily and Daniel Harrison.
Survivors include her children: Nickoleen Wiederstein of Audubon; Pheobe (John) Yencic of Overland Park, Kansas; Dirk Rasmussen of Audubon; Jennifer (Edward) Harrison of Smithville, Missouri; and Sara (Bruce) Rabun of Lone Tree, Colorado; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren, two nieces, a nephew and other relatives and friends.
Following cremation, there will be a private memorial service for the family at a later date.
