George Ezzyk Sr., 84, died on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, a current resident of Virginia. Born on May 2, 1937, in Berwick, he was raised on the Ezzyk Family Farm, the youngest of 13 children. George followed the steps of five of his brothers into the military. He joined the Marine Corps and became the "chief helicopter mechanic" and traveled with Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson. Then he joined the Air Force. He was highly respected in the military. George married Mary Jones of Virginia. They had three boys together: George, Allen and Gregory. After the passing of the beloved Mary, he was later blessed marrying Edna Smith of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by parents, Michael and Katherine Ezzyk; brothers: Alex, John, Albert, William, Michael and Joe; sisters: Anna Rich, Sophie Makar, Helen Dyer, Mary Zenzel and Catherine Jasinski; wife, Mary; son, Gregory; wife, Edna. George leaves behind one sister, Alice Starr; two sons: George and Allen; four grandchildren: Jessica, Tanya, Christopher and Erin; three great-granddaughters: Jordyn, Jayden and Jasmine; two great-great-granddaughters: Aubrey and Kylie; nieces and nephews: about 100, most still in the local area. George was very special to so many people. He was truly admired, loved and appreciated for his military service and the love he gave his family.
