Died:
At the residence of Samuel Engle, in Molalla Precinct, Clackamas County, on Saturday, January 20, 1877, John Duniway, aged about 37 years.
Deceased had been for a number of years an invalid, suffering from consumption in its most lingering and distressing form. The lamp of life, which had been flickering feebly for so long, at last went quietly out, and the weary spirit gladly departed to the beautiful "Summer Land".
"Sleep softly, O, tempest-tossed soul, Sleep softly and well"
The New Northwest, [Portland, Oregon], January 26, 1877, page 3 col 2
