January 7, 1981 - November 18, 2019 Our beloved "Sunshine Girl" is gone too soon.Alexis, our precious daughter, sister, niece, sister-in-law, aunt, partner and treasured friend, lost her 3-year valiant battle with brain cancer. Gratefully, her kindness, generosity, love of animals, passion for travel, wonderful wit, contagious laughter, beautiful sky-blue eyes and dazzling smile will be with us forever.Born in Los Angeles, Alexis attended Roosevelt Elementary School and Lincoln Middle School in Santa Monica, CA in advanced placement classes, and acclaimed music program as flautist. She received several awards for academic and community service achievements. Alexis graduated from Malibu High School in Malibu, CA in 1999, excelling in academics, music and sports. She was named as Valedictorian and received many awards.Alexis attended Pitzer College, a member of the Claremont Colleges in Claremont CA; where she excelled. She graduated with honors with a double degree; a BA in Human Biology and Organizational Studies in 2002. She went on to Southwest Law School in Los Angeles and participated in many activities and societies. She graduated with honors and earned her JD in May, 2008. She passed the California State Bar in December 2008 ranking in top 10% of her class and began her career in law with Bonnie Bridges Mueller O'Keefe & Nichols Law Firm in Los Angeles. Moving on to Gordon & Rees, Scully Mansukhani, a national law firm, Jun. 2012 – Aug. 2019; Alexis excelled in employment & labor law and became a Partner in 2015. With travel as a passion and photography as a hobby, Alexis traveled whenever possible with family and friends; including Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, Costa Rica, and road trips in the United States. When at home, Alexis and Riccardo loved spending time at the beach or entertaining at home with her beloved cocker spaniel, Ginger, family and friends. In a loving relationship, full of life and excitement about her next adventure; Alexis was very shockingly and unexpectedly diagnosed with a brain tumor during a routine physical therapy exam in 2016. With her usual determination and positive attitude, Alexis tackled this challenge with vigor and grace always believing she could conquer this, her most difficult challenge. With encouraging prognosis after surgery November 2016, and when treatment was completed; monitoring began while she continued working and living her life in earnest, until August 2019 when new activity was observed. Alexis was optimistic and determined to overcome this obstacle, agreeing to undergo another surgery in November 2019, if medication was not successful in combating the newly developing tumors. Tragically, they were extremely aggressive & ultimately inoperable. A courageous and loving fighter to the end, Alexis was taken from us at age 38, on November 18, 2019 with so much left to give. She touched so many people with her kindness, generosity and caring nature; always remembering to celebrate everyone's special occasion. We love and miss our Alexis deeply and will always hold her close in our hearts and love her forever. All who knew her are grateful for the time we had with her, always bringing her calm and clear insight to any situation and for giving us such boundless happiness and unwavering love. Goodbye our sweet Sunshine Girl; our lives are forever dimmer without you to brighten each day. You are forever in our hearts.Alexis is survived by her mother, Karla Amber; father, Sy Amber; brother, Eric Amber; half-brothers, Nicholas and Kailan Amber; sister-in-law, Ashley Richardson; nephew, Grant Amber; boyfriend, Riccardo Del Core; and her loving relatives in the Ware family, Broderick family, Amber family, Del Core family and Russell family.
