Son of Roy Rastus & Mae Thelma Buckner Capps; husband of Irene Webb Capps, to whom he was married for 34 years.

Mr. Ray Capps, age 79, of Carrollton, GA, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

Ray was born April 9, 1944 in Asheville, NC. He worked for Eastern Airlines until they closed, then worked as a machinist for Southwire.

He was a member of Freedom Missionary Baptist Church and was actively involved with his church.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Irene Webb Capps of Carrollton, daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Chris Matthews of Carrollton, sons and daughters-in law, Mike and Karen Tripp of Douglasville, Jason and Kitty Tripp of Temple, Erik and Kelly Tripp of Bremen; two brothers, Gene Capps and Roger Capps both of Asheville, NC; a sister, Jeanette Byrd of Douglasville, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 24, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at J. Collins Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of J Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Shae Tallent officiating. Music will be provided by Twyla Fristad.
