Virginia met Milan Veselinovic Alexander in Nebraska while playing 1st chair violin in the symphony together. They were united in marriage in 1953, moved to Iowa and then Minnesota. They were blessed with six children. They resided in Glencoe, MN until Milan's death in 1991. In 2000, Virginia met Robert Eckers and married him in September of that year. They celebrated 12 years together with music and their Young at Heart Orchestra until he passed away in 2012 in St. Louis Park, MN.
Virginia shared her love of music for many years teaching students how to play the cello, harp, piano, violin and organ. There was always music in the house. She was a woman of faith, a loving, devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and accomplished musician and music teacher. She was also an artist and taught some of her music students how to paint. She enjoyed excelling as a director in Mary Kay Cosmetics and as a homemaker with her family around her. Mom loved to entertain and always made room for "one more" when they showed up at the house.
Virginia was our greatest cheerleader, always rooting for her family. She loved all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren fiercely. She was involved in their lives and shared her joy and love of music with those around her. She loved to travel and was fun and loved to laugh, giving of herself and her time. She was a true and loyal friend and a blessing to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Milan Veselinovic Alexander, whom she was married to for 38 years and had six children, and her second husband, Robert Eckers, of St. Louis Park, MN; sister-in-law, Sonja. She is survived by her brother, Gary (MaryAnn Leonard) Kaufman.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Virginia, November 26, 2022 from 2-5pm at the American Legion in Chanhassen, MN. Her remains will be interred with her first husband, Milan in the family crypt in Kikinda, Serbia.
