Rev. Daniel was baptized 6 Feb 1686 in Biglen, Canton Bern, Switzerland, and immigrated on or before 1717 to Philadelphia, PA. He stayed for a while in the Palatinate, Germany before arriving in America. He was a Mennonite preacher and farmer. Daniel first preached in NY at German Quaker Settlement near NY - PA line, near Wilkes-Barre, but was preaching in Manatawny district (PA) some years prior to 1727. Patent Book A, Vol. 6, pg. 174 recorded in Philadelphia describes origin al land grant from John Penn, Thomas Penn, et al, conveyed to Daniel Longenecker 230 acres of land on southeast side of Schuylkill River, (then Philadelphia County now Montgomery County) at Mingo Creek, extending along river to Black Rock, Almshouse Farm. Again, a reference to this land grant is recorded at Norristown, PA in Deed book No. 13, pg. 260, dated March 30, 1756. He probably died in 1756 because on October 12, 1756, his widow, Elizabeth, renounced her right to administration o f his estate and gave them to oldest son David. On November 13, 1756 Elizabeth and the rest of their children conveyed 220 acres to David. Daniel's land is the present day site of the Montgomery County Geriatric Center. Documentation of Daniel being in Germantown, PA as a representative of the Mennonites at the convention of Quakers held in September, 1727.
