Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Armes, 83, of Austin, Texas, passed away on November 9, 2023. She was born on November 19, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Richard and Miriam DuVall. Betty was a spirited woman with the voice of an angel. She enjoyed sharing her love of music and her faith with any who would listen.

Betty is survived by her children: Elissa Turnham (Rob), Elaine Gomez-Greenfield (Lisa Semper), Frank "Jay" Gomez III (Esther Ebeling), and Adrienne Young (Ken). She was a loving grandmother to Adrian Turnham (Lauren), Kathryn Brown (Graham), Erica Gomez, Morganne Greenfield, Jessica Greenfield, Austin Greenfield, Carson Lopez, and Christopher Semper. Betty also had the joy of being a great-grandmother to Walker, Hayes, Marshall and Nolan.

She is also survived by her siblings: Cathy Kordsmeier (Norm) and Richard "Ric" DuVall (Patricia), as well as many beloved cousins. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Louis "Lucky" Armes.

Betty received her education at Mount St. Mary Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas and later attended and graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor's degree in Music. In her early days of child-rearing, she worshipped at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana serving on the Altar Guild and teaching catechism. Later, she spent many years singing and worshipping at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette, Louisiana. Once she became ill and moved to Austin, she became a parishioner at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Austin, Texas.

In addition to her love for music and faith, Betty had a variety of hobbies. She enjoyed teaching voice and piano, painting, bird watching, and raising her various animals. While in Lafayette, she was a member of Chorale Acadienne, a choral masterworks performing group performing often with local symphonies. While living in Austin, Betty cherished her time singing with the Love Notes Chorus, a Community Chorus for people with early-stage memory loss and their caregivers.

A mass will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, located at 10205 N. FM 620 #2210, Austin, TX 78726 on Tuesday, November 14th at 2:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, located at 300 W. Park St., Cedar Park, TX 78613. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Beck Funeral Home in Cedar Park, TX.

Betty Ann will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her vibrant spirit and love for music will forever be remembered. Her sweet soprano voice will resonate through the halls of Austin Wellness and Rehab where she spent her last 6 years making many dear friends. May she rest in God's loving arms for eternity.
