Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Louis Armes, 83, who passed away on July 12, 2009 at 3:50 PM at Lafayette General Medical Center. Reverend Michael Vu will conduct the funeral services.

Mr. Armes, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Walter Armes of Leitchfield, Kentucky and the former Mary Conder of Leitchfield, Kentucky. He was born on February 10, 1926 in a log cabin in Leitchfield, Kentucky. Louis was a WWII Veteran. He was a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He parachuted over the Rhine River to prepare for General Patton's Campaign into Germany. Louis came to Lafayette in the 1950's. He worked for Frank's Casing Crew in the original office with Mr. Frank Mosing and Mr. Donald Mosing. The first night that he went to work there, it rained all night long, but he never stopped working according to Mr. Donald Mosing. He was a former owner of Speed Center Inc. on East Alexander Drive in Lafayette, and raced in Nascar with Mr. Billy Hagen in the 1970's. Up until recently he worked for Wilkinson Technologies as a Robotic Technician. He was a friend and all around great person to all whom he met. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years Elizabeth Armes, two daughters, Janeice Armes and Martha Armes Corneil "formerly Thibodeaux", both of Lafayette and three step-daughters; Elissa Gomez Turnham of Houston, TX, Elaine Gomez Greenfield of Boca Raton, FL, and Adrienne Gomez Lopez of Austin, TX; one step-son, Frank "Jay" Gomez, III of Denver, CO; one sister, Betty Robinson of Crossville, TN, fourteen grandchildren and step-grandchildren; Dori Ann and Kelly St. Julien, Jillian and Grant Fuselier, Kathryn and Adrian Turnham, Jessica, Morganne and Austin Greenfield, Erica Gomez, Carson Lopez, Christopher, Jason and Sean Fogg; one great grandson, Devin Louis Fuselier; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Barbara Elder and Ruby Reynolds, and one brother, Melvin Armes.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 8:00 am until the time of service at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Wilkinson, Tom Fleming, Joseph Weiss, Royce Menard, Donald Mosing, Doug Corneil, Thomas "Butch" LeBlanc and Robert C. Turnham.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in the name of Mr. Armes to Hospice of Acadiana at 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA, or at www.hospiceacadian.com.
