Freda Ballard Chambers, 79, of Madison died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at home after a long illness. She was a retired Logan County schoolteacher with 42 years of service, a member of the Retired School Employees Organization, Madison United Methodist Church, the church choir and Brook Chambers Circle.
Surviving: sister, Vivian Cook of Homestead, Fla.; brother, Julian Ballard of Kennesaw, Ga.; two grandsons. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with the Rev. Ed Hardman and the Rev. Thomas McDowell officiating. Burial will be in Boone Memorial Park, Madison. Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
