Mrs. Flippen was born in Surry County, June 7, 1922, to John Daniel and Zippora Durham Arrington. She was retired from Ballston Knitting and was a member of Old Orchard Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving is her husband of nearly 63 years, Benton Flippen of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Ellen Flippen of Mount Airy; grandsons Jason Flippen, William Flippen and Nicholas Flippen, all of Mount Airy; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty and Harvey Smith of Stanleyville, and Vera Thomas of Mount Airy.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Flippen was preceded in death by a sister, Allie O'Neal, and brothers Roscoe Arrington, Burgie Arrington and Johnny Arrington.
