Emmett Clayton Whaley, 83, of Crawfordville, passed away peacefully at home with his family, November 2, 2023. He was a lifetime resident of Crawfordville. Clayton worked with Big 10 Tires for many years before opening his own business, Clayton's Alignment. Upon retirement, Clayton supervised the Wakulla County Sheriff's work crews and then became a Transport Driver for the Wakulla Senior Center. Clayton was an avid horseman and loved appearing in parades with his buggy and horses. He was always planting crops and loved when his sugar cane was used by the local syrup makers in Wakulla County. Clayton was a devout member of Mt. Beasor Primitive Baptist Church and he will always be remembered as the greatest storyteller, and for his outgoing personality.
He will be remembered by his daughter Alicia Whaley Barber and husband Matt Barber and one granddaughter Emma Dawne Barber, sister Marie Whaley Jacobs, brother Emmett Willard Whaley, Jr. and wife Becky and a host of beloved nieces & nephews.
Clayton was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Alene Harrell Whaley, parents Emmett & Celia Whaley, sisters Rene Whaley, Jacqueline Whaley Jetton & Linda Whaley Wilder and brother Edwin Whaley.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 am at Mt. Beasor Primitive Baptist Church in Sopchoppy and the Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the West Sopchoppy Cemetery.
