Patricia Ann "Pat" Peterson, 85, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 5:41 pm Friday, October 27, 2023, at her home with her family by her side. She was born May 30, 1938, in Sesser, Illinois to the late Lester Martin and Valasta Geraldine (LeVault) Lewis. Pat married Marlin D. "Red" Peterson on May 14, 1955, in Nason, Illinois. They were blessed with 59 years of marriage, six children, thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild of which she was very proud. Red preceded her in death on December 23, 2014. Pat is survived by her sons, David Dean Peterson of Mount Vernon, Rodney Bruce Peterson of Waltonville, Illinois, Terry Lynn Peterson of Waltonville, and Bradley Joe Peterson and wife, Cheri of Mount Vernon; daughters, Marla Jean Lacey and husband, Rickey and Lee Ann Schuette and husband, Paul, both of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Jeremy Clark and wife, Kristi of Kansas, Miranda Tucker and husband, Justin Tucker of Nardin, Oklahoma, Kelly Kelley and husband, Luke of Akin, Illinois, Nicole Hayes and husband, Ryan of Mount Vernon, Sarah Bringer and husband, Joe of Mount Vernon, Summer Peterson of Waltonville, Taylor Wallace and husband, Chandler of Pulaski, Tennessee, Matthew Peterson and Haleigh Frazier of Culleoka, Tennessee, Annalee Schuette of Mount Vernon, Rashieda Jones of Mount Vernon, Cody Peterson of Mount Vernon, Luke Lagerhausen of Mount Vernon, Sydney Lagerhausen Woodstock, Illinois, and Sydney Peterson of Mount Vernon; great-grandchildren, Alexis Clark and husband, Manny Sabala, Alaina Clark, Karlie Tucker, Talon Tucker, Laine Tucker, Rickey Tucker, Quincy Tucker, Kenna Kelley, Kolt Kelley, Kase Kelley, Aubrey Koy, Alex Koy, Gage Hayes, Gatlin Hays, Ellison Wallace, and Jentry Peterson; great-great-grandchild, Lincoln Sabala; sisters, Audrey Kash and husband, Jack of Waltonville and Regina Sandvekin and husband, Michael of Tennessee; sister-in-law, Frances Lewis of Kent, Washington; brother-in-law, David McBride of Forrest, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and special family friend, Cora Flota. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Pat was preceded in death by her sister, Mary McBride; and brother, Larry Lewis. Pat was a faithful member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. She worked as bus driver in Waltonville, Meals on Wheels in Mount Vernon, at the Garment Factory, and later as a secretary at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens for Gene Wells. Pat was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be deeply missed by all who loved and cared for her. A Visitation will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at First Free Will Baptist Church at 2610 Logan Street in Mount Vernon. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Reverend David Shores and Pastor Craig Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois.
