Janice (Jan) Koehler Heckler Jackman, age 83 passed away in Tyler, Texas on Sunday, October 1, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas with Rev. Jason Pointer officiating. Jan was born July 23, 1940, in Houston, Texas to the late Rudolph Hugo Koehler and Aubrey Pearl Arbing. Jan grew up in Texas City, Texas, graduated from Texas City High School and later received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Lamar Tech Institute in Beaumont, Texas. She spent her professional life as an art teacher in the public schools in the Houston and Henderson areas. Jan loved to crochet and quilt, enjoyed painting, and was very crafty and loved working with anything related to art. Jan was a member of Bethel Bible Church in Tyler, Texas. She was preceded in death by husband Reginald Carl Jackman; son, Walter Mark Heckler; brother, James Rudy Koehler. Survived by daughter, Cynthia Pointer and husband, Jason of Lindale, Texas; step-son, Bruce Jackman and wife, Laura of Houston, Texas; twin sister, Judy Johnson of Edmond, Oklahoma; brother, Richard Koehler and wife, Inga of Visby, Sweden; granddaughter, Keri Jackman and husband, Matt Greatens of Houston, Texas; great grandchildren, Blakely Spikerman of Houston, Texas and Gentry Greatens of Houston, Texas; One niece, two nephews; two great nieces; three great nephews and many other family members and friends including Brian Horrigan of The Woodlands, Texas.
