William Austin Davis died at 7 A.M., Friday, August 19, at his home, RFD 2, Pelham, following a long illness.Funeral services were held at 3 P.M., Sunday, August 21, at Union Hill Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Earl Childs officiating. Interment was in Union Hill Cemetery.
He was a native of Grady County, born October 11, 1878, the son of the late Benjamin and Delilah Palmer Davis. He was married to Maggie Gilliard in 1902 (1903), who died in 1932 (family states 1933). She is interred at Little Paynes Creek, Fla. He was a lifetime resident of Grady County and was a retired farmer.
His two sons are Burton Davis of Pelham, Willie Davis of Ft. Myers, Fla. One brother survives, Aaron Davis, Thomasville.
Pallbearers were M. B. Gilliard, P. D. Gilliard, Anderson White, G. L. Davis, W. T. Oliver, and Jim Malloy. Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, in charge.
