Pat was born on October 23, 1934, in Camden, SC and grew up in Blaney (now Elgin), SC, the middle child of five children. She graduated from Camden High School, where she was selected as homecoming queen. An accomplished musician, Pat played the trombone in the Camden High School Marching Band and shared her piano talents at Blaney Baptist Church and Fleming Baptist Church in Augusta. Her musical talent took her to Coker College in Hartsville, SC, where she majored in music. She worked many years as a substitute teacher for the Richmond County School System, spending most of those years at Glenn Hills High School. She also worked as an administrative assistant at First of Georgia Insurance Company, MCG School of Dentistry and The Augusta Chronicle. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. For her two children, she created a home full of love and laughter that became the center of neighborhood life. In addition to her family, Pat had a lifelong love of animals, including her beloved cats Peaches, Dusty and Bear.
