William was the son of Giles M & Mary Lula Sheets Barneycastle. This family shortened the name to Barney in the mid 1900's. William's tombstone shows that he served in World War I, plus he has a flat marker giving specifics: Pvt. Co C, 10th Engine, WWI.
William married Hagar Naomi Cornatzer, daughter of George Hiram and Margaret Charles Cornatzer. Hagar is buried with him. Their sons Robert and William Hubert are also buried here.
