Roger Farrell Davis, 86, of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the Bridgewater Home. He was born in Shooting Creek, N.C., on Aug. 3, 1931, and was a son of the late Fred and Maymie (Penland) Davis.

Roger retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service and from Walker Manufacturing after 20 years of service. He was a member of Dayton United Methodist Church. Roger was active in the community as a member of the Harrisonburg Kawanis Club, the Dayton Ruritan Club and with Habitat for Humanity.

He was united in marriage on Oct. 22, 1988, to Carolyn Faye (Newman) Davis of Dayton.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are four children, Kim Frisbee and husband, Morris, Kerry Davis and wife, Renee, Gail Davis and husband, Bobby, and Rick Davis and wife, Tonya; seven grandchildren, Sandra West, Bridgett Librado, Tiffany Huggins, Rocky Davis, Kelly Davis, Chelsea Davis and Daphne Davis; seven great-grandchildren, Alan West, Kimmy West, Tiffany West, Alysa Pugh, Hillary Librado, Cash Huggins and Rylee Dean; three great-great-grandchildren, Sketch Huggins, Aubrey West and Shane Embler; three sisters, JoAnn Drake and husband, Bobby, Betty Sue Rogers and husband, Wayne, and Cathy Denton and husband, Billy, and three brothers, Worth Davis and wife, Shirl, Wilfred Davis and wife, Brenda, and Rex Davis and wife, Janet. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Davis, a sister, Sandra Roberts, and three grandchildren, Rusty, Eric and Stephanie Davis.

A memorial service will be held at Dayton United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, with the Rev. Bruce Carper and the Rev. Steve Bird officiating. Burial will be private with military grave rites by the Dayton American Legion Post No. 27.
