On March 15, 1958, she married Harvey L. Ammerman and together they raised their family, owned and operated Ammerman's True Value Hardware Store and supported and participated in many community activities before his sudden passing on January 27, 1993. For many years, Patty worked at Pendleton Federal Savings and Loan, in Falmouth. She was a member of Falmouth Baptist Church.
On April 15, 1996, Patty married Howard J. Hoess, and they operated the Dairy Queen, a local landmark since 1952, rebuilding at the same site after the flood of March 1, 1997. In 2005, following a devastating fire, the restaurant was rebuilt and become Howard's Place, a western-theme restaurant with historic photographs and memorabilia from Pendleton, Campbell and Harrison counties. Howard and Patty were often found at the restaurant, where they enjoyed time with patrons, listening to the music of the "Supper Table Gang." Following Howard's passing on January 28, 2010, Patty visited the restaurant and continued their traditions for as long as she was able. Over the years, she loved square dancing and camping with family and friends.
Patty is survived by: two children, Dean (Tammy) Ammerman and Angie Ammerman (Rick Mineer), both of Falmouth; two step-sons, Tony Hoess, of Falmouth, and Jeffrey Hoess-Brooks, of Chicopee, Massachusetts; eight grandchildren, Christy (Dodd) Hance, of Union, Kentucky, Lindsay (Billy) Wehage, of Independence, Kentucky, Tori (Joe) Cornine, of Burlington, Kentucky, McKenna Mineer and Amber Mineer, both of Falmouth, April Booher, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Barry (Monica) Ammerman and Cassandra (D.J.) Jacobs, both of Falmouth; several great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, at Woodhead Funeral Home, in Falmouth, with Jeff Dean officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, preceding the service. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 12, at Mount Vernon Cemetery, in Pendleton County. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the River Valley Nursing Home Activity Fund, 305 Taylor Street, Butler, Kentucky 41006.
