He was born on February 20, 1954 the son of Howard and Elizabeth Slaght Teeter.
Gary retired from the Tompkins County Sheriff's Department after 27 years of service. He was very active in several organizations around the county. Gary was a proud member of the Patriot Guard, Sprague Steamer Hose Co. #6, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the VFW. Gary's favorite red head was his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.
Gary was predeceased by his father, Howard Teeter in 2009, his daughter Kimberly Teeter in 2020. Survived by his loving wife of 20 years Peggy Sullivan; mother, Betty Teeter; children: Jason (Shannon) Scofield, Gary M. Teeter, Jr., Ben (Cathy) Teeter, Heather (Matt) Roybal, Shannon Sullivan; sisters: Kathy (Harold) Ostrander, Wendy Campbell and, Gail (Ed) Stage; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Gary's life will be held at Fraternal Order of Eagles, 161 Cecil Malone Dr, Ithaca, NY 14850, on Saturday, April 23 at 2pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bangs Funeral Home,
