John was born August 20, 1950, in Putnam County, West Virginia, to the late William and Margaret Oldaker Daugherty. He worked as a print setter for the Lincoln Times-News.
He is survived by two brothers, William Daugherty (Pam), and Timothy Daugherty (Belinda) all of Lincolnton; two sisters, Sharon Isenhour (Jeff), and Karen Galant (Larry), all of Gastonia.
A private service will be held at a later date.
