Dorothy R. Franklin, "Dot", wife of 73 years to Ronald L. Franklin, Sr., passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2023.

Born in Easley, SC on born November 26, 1930, she was the middle of ten children of the late William and Lillian Holder Ravan.

Dot graduated from Liberty High School in 1947 where she was voted "Most Likely to Succeed". She met Ron in 1948 at the Methodist Youth Camp at Lander College. The couple married in October of 1950 in the parsonage of the First Baptist Church in Anderson and began their married life in Married Student Housing at Wofford College.

Dot was an exceptionally skilled professional homemaker who took great care of her home and family in each place they lived including Spartanburg and Mauldin, SC as well as Columbus, GA. Along with her husband, Ron, she raised their children with love, compassion, faith, truth, tenacity, and Christian devotion truly fulfilling her Senior Superlative of succeeding. Dot was lovingly known as "Mom", "Momma", "Gramma", and "Gigi" to her family who were her greatest source of pride.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Elizabeth Freeman (Benjamin), and Jeffrey Franklin; son-in-law, J. Kevin Childress; four grandchildren, Heather Freeman Hummelshein (Scott), Lauren Freeman Wilhoit (Christopher), Summer Franklin Arnold (Garrett), and Ronald Leon "Ron" Franklin, III (fiance, Theresa Perez); four great-grandchildren, Hope Tabor Wilhoit, August Benjamin "Augie" Hummelshein, John Garrett Arnold, and June Elizabeth Wilhoit; and two sisters, Ruby Ravan "Kitty" Fulbright and Gail Ravan Roberts (James).

She was preceded in death by two children, Lillian Jean Franklin and Ronald Leon Franklin, Jr.; six sisters, Mildred Bagwell, Edna Ravan, Alma Ravan, Ruth Major, Fay McGee, and Edith Steadmon; two brothers, Jack Ravan and Bill Ravan; and brother-in-law, Thomas Clifford Fulbright.

Dot suffered a stroke in May of 2020 but demonstrated her unwavering commitment to her family and will to live over the next 3 years and four months. The family is so grateful that Prisma Health diagnosed and saved her life immediately after her stroke; for Amedisys Home Health who provided excellent post-stroke therapies; and for the compassionate and highly skilled end of life care given by Interim Healthcare. The staff and friends at Harmony Retirement Community and Assisted Living also helped Ron and Dot a great deal through Dot's transition and passing. We give thanks for all of the prayers provided by everyone but especially Mauldin Methodist Church and St. James Episcopal Church.

Having been members of Mauldin Methodist for more than 50 years, Dot's life will be celebrated there with family and friends. Funeral service with a private family burial to take place in the church cemetery.
