Son of the late James William and Lillian Mae Holder Ravan.

1955 graduate of Liberty High School, where he lettered in Football and Wrestling.

He went on to the United States Military Academy, West Point, and graduated with
the class of 1959.

He was an Army Ranger with the 81st Airborne, and a Vietnam War Veteran who
was awarded two Bronze Stars with valor.
He remained with the US Army Reserves at the rank of Major once he left active duty, until 1975.

Mr. Ravan had a long career with the Federal Government. He served in the Senior Executive Service while at the United States Environmental Protection Agency. While with the E.P.A., he was the Region Administrator, Southeastern Region IV and the federal Assistant Administrator for Water Quality. He later served as the Director of the Alabama State Docks.

Mr. Ravan is survived by three adult children, his first wife, one brother and several sisters.

Funeral Mass: September 12, 2014, Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pickens, S.C.

Burial: Westview Cemetery.
