It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Eleanor (Rosen) Albert, age 100, on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. She died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones after a short period of illness.

Born, raised, and educated in Chelsea, she graduated from Chelsea High School in 1940 and attended business school which prepared her for employment as a bookkeeper and secretary, and eventually led to a career at the Boston Globe.

The second born of four children of Ida (Green) Rosen and William Rosen, she is survived by her younger sister, Geraldine Wexler of Randolph and predeceased by her older brother, Leonard Rosen, and younger sister, Judith Rosen.

Eleanor married Mitchell Joseph Albert in 1944 and together the couple had three children. The family lived in Roxbury and Dorchester before moving to Hull in 1958.

She leaves a long legacy that includes her three children: Richard Albert (Rhonda) and friend Karen, Dennis Albert (Karen), and Amy Albert-Schnipper (Philip). Her four surviving grandchildren include: Michael Albert (Laina), Stacey Festa, Matthew Albert, and Lawrence Albert (Patty). She leaves behind nine great grandchildren: Eli, Sawyer, Gabrielle, Grace, Destiny, Jonathan, Gia, Nathan, and Alyssa. She was fortunate enough to have 3 great, great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandchildren Marc Albert (Kristen) and Alison Schnipper as well as great grandson Kevin Festa.

She worked in various bookkeeping, office, and secretarial positions until she became employed by the Boston Globe and a member of the Typographical Union for her thirty year career. She retired at age 79 and thoroughly enjoyed her retirement years as much as she enjoyed her years at the Globe. She remained active in the community and maintained membership in the Garden Club, Temple Beth Sholom, and Hadassah. She loved the town of Hull and looking at the ocean from her condo. She was civic minded and very active in the Anne Scully Senior Center for over thirty years, assuming the office of President for 15+ years in one of the more active senior clubs. She volunteered for 19 years at Wellspring Multi-Service Center's bookstore and took great pride in procuring and organizing greeting cards to sell. She gave of herself and her time and energy generously.

Eleanor will long be remembered for having a strong work ethic, deep religious and spiritual beliefs, a big smile and hearty laugh, love of a bargain, and a good meal and sweet snack. Nothing gave her more pleasure than when her three children were together. She will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
