Maxine Martin Pound, 75, formerly of Monticello, died on July 16, 2013, in Savannah. Mrs. Pound was born in Macon, and raised in Uvalda. She was the daughter of Melville and Clarice Martin. She attended Brewton Parker College and was employed by Georgia Power in Atlanta.

Mrs. Pound was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, most recently at Monticello UMC.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pound is predeceased by her brother, Ralph Martin, and sister, Melba Martin Stout.

Mrs. Pound was a loyal wife to her husband of 51 years, Thomas G. Pound, also of Monticello, Ga., loving mother to her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Donna Pound of Savannah; daughter, Paula Clarice Pound of Weaverville, N.C.; and proud grandmother to Preston Pound, Riley Pound and Amelia Pound of Savannah.

She is also survived by her sister and brother in law, Agnes and Lt. Cmdr. (Ret.) Franklin Heule; brother-in-law, Mac Stout; sister-in-law, Christine Lowe; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Braxton and Bettie Pound; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Pound will be held on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Monticello First United Methodist Church. Rev. Stephen Soulen and Dr. John Brown will officiate.

A graveside service will follow at West View Cemetery. Special music will be provided by Paul McClelland, cousin of Mrs. Pound.
