Reuben was the son of James and Marsha Ann Tunnel. He was born September 4, 1847 in Franklin county, Ohio. At the age 8 he moved to Wayne county. He married Lib Wice in 1873. They had no children. In 1890 took Jessie Mills as a infant and raised her. Burial in Victory cemetery.

[Note: On 11/14/1897 he again married, Elizabeth Jane (Neville) Spicer, a widow. They divorced in 1902.]
