PATRICIA ANN (NIXON) DAVIS
February 3, 1933 - September 4, 2023

Patricia Ann (Nixon) Davis was born February 3, 1933 in McCurtain, Oklahoma, the fifth of seven children born to Anna Hendrix and Walter Nixon. Pat was the shy, quiet child in a loud and loving family.

In her teens she met the love of her life in Doyle Davis. They married April 1, 1950 when she was only 17. Following the birth of their first child in April 1951, they moved to California where Doyle worked in farming at Shafter and Wasco ranches, while Pat had their second child in 1953 and made a home for their growing family on the ranch. They later added two more children in the early 1960s and moved to Tehachapi.

Pat and Doyle always had a house full of music, food, laughter, family and friends. Together, they enjoyed dancing, riding motorcycles and beach and lake camping. Pat loved nothing more than listening to her love Doyle, and later her son Doyle, play guitar for a house full of family and friends.

In 1970, Pat decided she wanted a career and took a clerical position with the California Department of Corrections. During her career, she worked at the Tehachapi Correctional Institution, State Parole Office in Bakersfield, and the Wasco Correctional Institution.

In 1984, Pat lost her love to cancer. As she had never been alone, Pat had to rebuild her life. She applied for a new position with the DoC traveling around California implementing and instructing workers on the new correctional computer systems. The job challenged Pat to overcome her shyness to be a successful public speaker and trainer.

Following her retirement from the Department of Corrections in 1995, Pat became active in several community organizations. She was a member of the Bakersfield Lions Club, the Women of the Moose, and the Fairfax Grange. From 1995 to 2005 she was the Regional Director for the California Country Music Association, promoting local singers, musicians and songwriters in their art. In 2004, Pat accepted a job working for the District Attorney's Office. She worked 6-1/2 years, finally retiring at 78.

Over the last twenty years, Pat enjoyed traveling with her best friend and companion, Tom Craig. They took several trips back to their childhood state of Oklahoma, and many casino trips to Tachi Palace and Eagle Mountain, where Pat proved to be a rather lucky gambler.

Pat was the last of her generation for the Davis and Nixon families, surviving her husband, parents, brothers, sisters, and in-laws. She was matriarch, cheerleader, wise counsel, and best friend to her children and grandchildren and cherished the times they were all together, continuing the love and laughter she and Doyle built their lives on.

Pat went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2023. She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Jerri Curtis (Luke), Doyle Davis (Cathy), Elizabeth Money (Tom), and Mark Davis (Pam), 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews, and her best friend, Tom Craig.
