Nina Felmet Hypes, beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2023, at the Randolph Hospice House. She was born on April 29, 1951, in Graham, North Carolina to Dick and Meree Felmet.

Nina attended Orange High School in Hillsborough, NC and graduated in 1969. Shortly after graduating, she enlisted in the United States Air Force alongside her sister Gail. Nina's dedication and pride in serving her country were evident throughout her life.

While serving in the Air Force, she met Robert Hypes, who quickly became the love of her life. Nina and Bob were married on October 10, 1971 in San Diego, CA. They went on to settle in Greensboro, NC, raising three daughters whom what Nina always said were, "Her purpose in life."

Nina found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment shared with them. Nina also had a passion for reading. She would often find solace in the pages of a good book, while sitting outside with her lovable dog, Buddy, resting at her feet.

Nina is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hypes. Sisters Hen Smith, Pat Cates, Nettie Felmet, Nancy Holt, and Gail Peterson, Brother Jack Felmet. Their memories will forever be cherished by those who loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Sage (Randall), Sara Pugh (Larry), and Karen O'Laughlin (Ryan). Nina's presence will be deeply missed by her sisters Kitty Bradshaw and Vickie McGee, as well as her brothers Dickie Felmet and Mack Felmet. Her memory will also live on through her grandchildren: Callie Pugh, Addison Sage, Trip Sage, Charlotte Pugh, Palmer O'Laughlin, and Gray O'Laughlin.
