Delores Geraldine Horstmann, 84, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2008, at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born January 30, 1924, in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Delores was a member of the Waves during World War II, the American Legion, the Lady OWLS, a life-member of the River Bend Auxiliary, and VFW Post No. 1114 Ladies Auxiliary.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Guild.

Delores was a former Girl Scout Leader, and she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, needlepoint, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and bowling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Major Otis and Maude Schnarr. Her father was the head of the Salvation Army in Evansville. Delores was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph, Richard, Harold and Warren Schnarr; and sisters, Evangeline Naramore and Phyllis Lehrman.

Delores is survived by her husband of 61 years, Henry Horstmann; son, Gary Horstmann of Evansville; daughter, Sharon Head and husband, Harvey, of Newburgh; daughter, Brenda Bredhold and husband, Bryan; grandchildren, Eric Mayer, Aaron Sutherland, Bonnie Brenner, Becky Mangold and Brent Bredhold; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2008, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Wade Butler, with burial at Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Evansville Lutheran School, 120 E. Michigan Street, Evansville, IN 47711.
