Harry was a son of Knute Mikkelsen and Olive Jensen. During World War I, he was a Sergeant 1st Class with the 22nd Engineers. He married 1st Adrian Edith McDaniel. He married 2nd Mary M. Ruhberg. Mary Ruhberg married William Svoboda after Harry died. She died in 1955 and is bured in the Baptist Cemetery at Stroden, Cottonwood County, Minnesota.
