Knute Andrew Mikkelsen was the son of Knudt Mikkelsen Lono and Carrie Eriksdotter Roalkvam. He came to Lura Township, Faribault County, Minnesota about 1864. He married Olive Jensen in 1888. He had three children: Harry, Morton and Gladys (Diebold). He moved to North Dakota in 1907 and established a veterinary practice in Nome.
