Journalist, Television Producer and Documentary Film Producer. He began his career in 1980, where he worked as a disc jockey (DJ) in Richmond, Kentucky. Crump was then noticed by WSAV-TV and acquired an internship there. Due to his booming voice, he was soon placed in front of the camera. Furthermore, he also worked for news stations in Lexington, Kentucky, Detroit, Michigan and Orlando, Florida. Likewise, he was also an independent producer for Charlotte's WTVI, BET and Charlotte's PBS affiliate prior to coming to WBTV. Moreover, Crump won Emmy Awards for stories ranging from civil rights in the American South and apartheid in South Africa. Additionally, Crump also won the Gabriel Award, four National Headliner awards, and more than a dozen first-place awards from the National Association of Black Journalists. The latter of the three even named Crump the "2016 Journalist of the Year". Aside from the news, Crump produced various documentaries such as: " Carolina Concerns and the New South Africa" (1994), " Carolina Bebop Kings" (2002), "Before Rosa: The Unsung Contributions of Sarah May Fleming" (2005), and "9/4/57" (2010). He died from colon cancer.
