The Austin American Statesman (TX) April 10, 1995 > Cynthia Hill Alsup died Friday April 7, 1995 at home after an extended illness. She was born July 21, 1922 in Laredo, TX, a daughter of Judge and Mrs. Frank Y. Hill. In 1939 she graduated from Martin High School in Laredo then attended Mary Baldwin College in Virginia. She was graduated from the University of Texas in 1943 with a degree in Home Economics. Mrs. Alsup also received a degree in Library Science from Baylor University in Waco. On December 20, 1943, she married Ace Hill Alsup, Jr. Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Judge and Mrs. Hill, and her sister, Isabel Haring of San Antonio. She is survived by her husband Ace H. Alsup, Jr.; her son Ace Hill III and wife Nan, and son James Myers Alsup, all of Austin; Survivors also include a sister, Virginia H. Saukel and husband James, of Cheverly, MD; a brother, Frank Y. Hill, Jr. and wife Cathie of Boeme, TX, a brother-in-law Louis Haring of San Antonio, and a sister-in-law, Imogene Arnold and husband Jasper of Houston. Mrs. Alsup is also survived by four grandchildren, Joshua Hill Alsup, Rachel Noel Alsup, Andrew William Alsup and Rebecca H. Alsup, all of Austin. Mrs. Alsup served for 20 years in the Temple ISD as a second grade teacher and librarian. Throughout her life she dedicated herself to living the principels of Christianity in which she so strongly believed. For the last 17 years of her life she had touched many lives as a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels. She will be remembered with love by fanily, friends, former students and by those whose loves she touched with her kind gentle ways. The family wishes to thank R. Scott Ream, MD., John Sandbach, MD., and Hospice Austin for the care provided during Mrs. Alsup's illness. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Shrivers Cancer Center, Hospice Austin, or a charity of choice. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 10, 1995, at 2:00 p.m. at the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple, TX. with Rev. Wilson Keenan officiating, followed by interment at Little River-Wilson Valley Cemetery.
