Mrs. Frances A. Wight Abbott, aged 81 years, wife of J. Brayton Abbott, died at 4 this morning at the home of her son, Lester H. Abbott, of 733 Scotch Crouse avenue, Syracuse.
She had been in failing health for some time. Mrs. Abbott was a resident of Gouverneur for 35 years, living here, until her removal to Syracuse a year ago.
She was born in the town of Fowler, daughter of Abner and Clarissa Wight. She was married in 1864.
Mr. Abbott taught school in 1859 and 1860. In 1866 he removed to Minnesota and the couple lived there until 1872, Mr. Abbott being a merchant. He was engaged in the same capacity in Spragueville for several years and at the same time was engaged in farming. He is a former postmaster of Gouverneur.
Surviving are her husband; two sons, Sherman A. Abbott of Salt Lake City, and Lester H. Abbott of Syracuse. A son, Wight Abbott, died about 15 years ago.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending word from the son in Utah.
