Trained by (I believe) the Remington Arms Co. during WWI to operate an early anti-aircraft gun and sent to France to train others in its use. He died in France, was buried in France, and (at his mother's request) he was reburied in the United States at Cypress Hills. Previous to his service in WWI, Sidney Gardiner served in the Mexican Border Patrol under John (Blackjack) Pershing and was one of the soldiers who pursued Pancho Villa during the time he was raiding banks on the U.S. side of the border.
