In 1902, when he was 19, he was brought to Hillside Home, then on Asylum St and knows as "Lakeview, the Poor House" In 1917, when the new Hillside Hospital was erected, he transferred there.
In 1951 he was given his first hearing aide, donated by the estate of George Spencer Wills.
He had paralysis. Possibly Polio. Arthritis. He was blind in one eye.
Deeply religious and an avid reader.
