Obituary of Adelard LeCompte

Adelard "Porkey" LeCompte, died December 24, 2012. He was born in Auburn, Maine to Adelard and Imelda "Montreuil" LeCompte in 1929. He was of French Canadian ancestry and resided in Lewiston, Maine where he belonged to St. Joseph's Parish and moved to Lisbon, Maine belonging to St. Anne's Parish. He retired to Englewood, Florida in 1990 with his high school sweetheart, Blanche "Marie" LeCompte and recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary together. He belonged to St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Englewood where he was part of the choir and was a cantor for a few years. He was also part of the Fun Chorus participating in concerts and performances.

He attended Lewiston High School and graduated from St. Dominic Regional High School in 1950 where he met his wife. Porkey excelled at sports at an early age, lettering, and co-captaining in basketball, baseball, and football.

In his early working career, he delivered milk for Blais' and Cote's Dairies as well as coached high school football and basketball. He also worked for Pepsi-Cola and Sanborn's Motor Express delivering product out of Auburn, Maine driving an eighteen wheeler. Later, he was the Secretary-Treasurer for the Teamster's Union Local 340 in South Portland, Maine for 13 years before retiring in 1990.

Porkey was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoyed watching movies, learning new computer skills, and could be seen daily riding his 10 mile bicycle loop throughout the community for the last several years. During his retirement, he substituted delivering Meals-on-Wheels locally. He had a wonderful voice and formed the "Melodears" with his wife Blanche and they volunteered singing at assisted living and retirement homes within the area for the last 16 years.

He loved to compete and play cards and games with family and friends especially Cribbage, Pinocle, Uno, and Dominos. He was extremely adept with math skills and enjoyed sharing work stories with everyone. He loved playing practical jokes on people and enjoyed a good laugh. He especially cherished his family and spending time with friends.

He is pre-deceased by his father, mother, and sister, Therese Frechette. He is survived by his spouse: Blanche; his younger brother: Robert LeCompte (Dorothy) of Jupiter, FL; six children: daughter, Suzanne (Bertrand) Moreau of Englewood, FL; daughter, Monique (Edward) Buzanoski of Newport, ME; daughter, Kathleen LeCompte of Lewiston, ME; son, Paul LeCompte of Camden, ME; son, Mark LeCompte of St. Petersburg, FL; and daughter, Carrie (Kevin) Lapham of North Port, FL. He is survived by four grandchildren: Grace (Ryan) LaRocque of Pepperell, MA; Melissa (Joseph) Peasley of Orland, ME; Ian Buzanoski of Newport, ME; and Dr. David (Dr. Kristen) Buzanoski of Portland, ME.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM at Englewood Community Funeral Home, 3070 South McCall Road and the Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 5265 Placida Road, Grove City, FL. with Father Gregory Klein, officiating.
