James was the son of Daniel and Elizabeth "Betty" Pointon Scally and was baptized on March 25, 1829, in Taghmon, County Westmeath, Ireland.

James Scally Dead
James Scally, aged 90 years, died Thursday morning. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Darby Brady, with whom he made his home for 26 years, and three sons, P. F. Scally, Turtle Creek, Pa; John Scally, Detroit; and W. A. Scally, Fort Worth, Texas. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church from which the funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock.
