Kenneth Short, age 71, of Hager Hill, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 25, 2023 at his home.

Kenneth was born March 22, 1952 in Hindman, Kentucky, son of the late Hanscel Short and Gladys Slone Short. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

He is survived by his loving wife Anita Darlene Watts Short of Hager Hill, Kentucky; three daughters, Christine Short of London, Kentucky, Cassandra Mollette of Van Lear, Kentucky and Nenna Abrams of Richmond, Kentucky; one son, Ryan Cantrell of West Van Lear, Kentucky; one half sister, Berniece Dunn of Lexington, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Amber, Nathaniel, Parker, Harrison, Lexi, Brentley, Addison, Caden and Everly. three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2023 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with William Paul Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Gethsemane Gardens, Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
