Mamie Fullilove Collum Sherrill

Funeral services for Mamie Fullilove Collum Sherrill, 86, of Falkville will be at 2 p.m. today, March 4, 2007 at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Dubberly and Bobby Collum officiating. Burial will follow in Bell Springs Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sherrill died Thursday, March 1, 2007 at her home. She was born Nov. 14, 1920 in Cullman County to William F. Fullilove and Luvenia Williams Fullilove. She was a homemaker and a member of Bellsprings Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, W.G. Collum and Russell Sherrill, a brother, L.N. Fullilove; and two grandchildren, Alicia Creel and William C. Collum.

Survivors include one son; Bobby (Mary Ann) Collum; two daughters, Patsy (Jerry) Creel and Diane (Buddy) Clark; three sisters, Arrie Parrish, Christine (Allan) Triner and Bonnie (William) Hassell; eight grandchildren, Annette (Bo) Gingrich, Richard (Melissa) Creel, Mona (Rod) Cook, Brian Creel, Talitha (Lance) Lay, Bonita (Michael) Hutchinson, Bonnie (Roy) Morris, and Benson (Valarie) Clark; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for memorials to be made to Lifecare Hospice of Cullman, which the family says provided wonderful, compassionate care of Mrs. Sherrill.

Visitation was held Saturday at the funeral home.

There is an interesting history to this cemetery. The land that this couple is buried was donated to the Bell Springs Community by the Collum family. Mamie's first husband, William, was the last direct descendent of the Collum family.
