Maj. Stuart Wolfer of Emmett, Idaho grew up on Long Island, N.Y., where he attended the Solomon Schechter Day School. He moved with his family to South Florida in 1984 where he was a graduate of J.P. Taravella High School in Coral Springs. Stuart worked in operations, helping to train the Iraqi security forces in transition efforts. His Army Reserve unit was based in Boise, Idaho. He was called up from the Army Reserves for active-duty service with the Army in 2004, and served in Kuwait for a year. He was again called up for active-duty Army service and left for service in Iraq on Dec. 29, 2007. In his civilian occupation, he worked for Minneapolis-based Thomson West Legal as a territory manager for Idaho and Montana. The company provides legal, regulatory and business information to legal professionals. He attended Washington University in St. Louis, MO, where he joined the Army ROTC program. He graduated and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army in May 1993. He served as a logistics officer and was assigned to an Army unit in Iowa where he met his future wife, Lee Anne, in 1995. He attended and graduated from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. He was deeply connected to his Jewish faith and went to Israel twice and was involved in the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization in high school, where he made life-long friends. He was deployed to Iraq on Dec. 19. He was 36.
