Charles C. Dashnaw, 73, of 363 Stone Church Road, died Sunday at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center.
Mr. Dashnaw was a dairy farmer and had worked in construction during the 1950s on the St. Lawrence Seaway.
Born December 26, 1929, in Macomb, son of William and Bertha Leeson Dashnaw, his mother died while he was young and he was raised by his stepmother, Hilda Thayer Dashnaw.
He married Joan Dulmage on February 23, 1954, at Stone Presbyterian Church in the town of Oswegatchie.
He was a member of St. Lawrence Valley Horsemen Association, was town assessor for the town of Oswegatchie for seven years, was a beekeeper and was named Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year for 1963 by the Ogdensburg Junior Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed his dog, attending horse shows and visiting friends.
Surviving besides his wife are a son of Morristown; a daughter and husband of Heuvelton, a daughter and husband of Ogdensburg, and a daughter and her companion of Ogdensburg; four sisters of Gouverneur, Lisbon, Norfolk, and Florida; five brothers of Texas, Florida, and Black River, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Ann Marie Dashnaw, and a brother, Julius "Spike," died before him.
Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Eel Weir.
